MensXMachina is a research group, founded in October 2006, and led by Assistant Professor Ioannis Tsamardinos. He serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Crete and as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at Vanderbilt University having won a NASA award and an ERC grant (equivalent to National Science Foundation Young Investigator Award) among others.
MensXMachina has pioneered solutions to complex data analytics problems, such as in causal discovery and feature selection and has extensive experience in applied projects particularly in biomedicine.
At first thought figuring out how hard you can hit a punch bag does not appear to be that challenging. However, with a little more investigation most realize that recording accurate data from a hundred pound bag swinging like a pendulum that is being struck from all angles, is in fact very difficult. We needed to develop an Impact Algorithm to create a consistent number over time.
This is where Ioannis and his team come in, their expertise in finding algorithmic solutions are an integral part of Impact Wrap’s development plan. By analyzing “noise” of the bag swinging from the “signal” from an actual strike, we will continually refine the Impact Algorithm.
